Gary is a fourth-generation Meade county rancher and his family still lives on the land that has been in his family since 1911. Gary graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Range Management, and a minor in Economics. Over the past twenty years Gary has been involved with many boards and organizations, and most recently served as President for the South Dakota Stockgrowers Association.
“All of my life I have had a desire to be involved and get things done,” said Deering. “After a great deal of prayer and visiting with my family, I have decided that the South Dakota House representing District 29 is a place that I can contribute to our community. I am looking forward to using my experiences of working on local, state and national issues and putting them to work for the citizens of Meade County”.

Gary strongly supports property rights, limited government, and local control and has advocated for these principles at the local, state and national levels.
Gary is proud of his family's long history in Meade County, He and his wife Jessica ranch with his parents on the family ranch founded by his great-grandfather in 1911. Together they are raising three boys.
Gary is ready to take his Meade County values, along with his vision for the future, and work for the citizens of District 29 in the South Dakota House of Representatives.s

I am putting a great team together to help me and I look forward to meeting more people throughout the county. If elected I will serve with honesty, and transparency; while upholding the Constitution, my conservative values, and putting the people of this county first.
